Uzbekistan Increases Banana Imports, Majority Sourced from Ecuador

Uzbekistan increases banana imports: majority sourced from Ecuador

In the period from January to November 2025, Uzbekistan significantly increased its banana imports from foreign markets. According to preliminary data from the State Statistics Committee, the country imported a total of 161,400 tons of bananas during this timeframe. A total of $54.3 million was spent on these products.

Analysis shows that the volume of banana imports increased by 10,800 tons compared to the same period last year. This indicates a steady growth in the population's consumption of this fruit. Bananas are not only affordable and nutritious but are also becoming an increasingly integral part of daily diets.

Ecuador remains Uzbekistan's largest partner in banana imports. Specifically, 145,900 tons of bananas were imported from Ecuador, accounting for the majority of total imports. Bananas from Ecuador are distinguished for their quality and reliable supply chain.

Additionally, 13,900 tons of bananas were imported from China. Smaller quantities, exceeding 300 tons in total, were brought in from countries such as Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Kyrgyzstan.

In summary, Uzbekistan's import geography for bananas is expanding, although Ecuador continues to dominate as the main supplier. Clearly, the love for the yellow fruit is here to stay.
