Sweets do not always have a negative effect on skin health. There are some desserts, the consumption of which can actually achieve a positive result, believes biotechnologist Inga Belyaeva.

She explains that some types of chocolate contain a group of flavonoids that affect the activity of a number of enzymes in the body. We are talking about flavonols. These plant substances are found in natural chocolate.

In an interview with Gazeta.ru, the specialist noted that flavonols have the ability to create protection for the skin from ultraviolet rays, prevent the appearance of wrinkles, and reduce the risk of oncological diseases.

According to Inga Belyaeva, natural chocolate is rich in iron and calcium, as well as vitamins A, B, C, D, E and RR. They help retain moisture in the skin, improve complexion and fight premature aging.

At the same time, the expert notes that benefits for the skin can only be obtained from dark chocolate with a cocoa content of 60% and above. In addition, it is impossible to consume such a product in excess, it is recommended to eat it only in small quantities.
