Chevrolet has broken a world record in electric vehicle performance. One of its electric pickup trucks traveled an astonishing 1,705 kilometers (1,059 miles) on a single charge — nearly double the vehicle’s officially rated range of 793 km (493 miles).
The test took place over seven days on public roads near Detroit. The vehicle was driven at speeds of 32 to 40 km/h (20–25 mph). Engineers made specific modifications to optimize performance: increased tire pressure, removed spare wheel, deactivated air conditioning, lowered wipers, and added a body cover to reduce drag.
Though the tested model is commercially available, GM engineers fine-tuned it for this test to demonstrate the full potential of electric powertrains. The company does not plan to submit the achievement to the Guinness World Records, viewing it instead as an engineering showcase.
Previously, the record was held by Lucid Air Grand Touring, which managed 1,206 km. Chevrolet’s new milestone highlights the evolving capabilities of EVs and sets a bold new benchmark for the industry.
