4,000 passengers caught paying bus fares

In Tashkent, it has been found that cases of traveling on public transport without paying the fare are increasing. From January to June 2025, supervisory bodies in the transport sector detained 4,090 passengers for riding buses without paying.

These cases were uncovered as a result of large-scale raids conducted in cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and the State Institution for Monitoring and Control of Public Transport Movement.

It was revealed that in many cases, offenders attempted to bypass control by entering without a ticket or using the rear doors of the bus. However, due to strengthened transport control, their violations were documented and appropriate administrative penalties were applied.

According to the law, a fine of 41,200 soms is imposed on those who use public transport without paying the fare. This amount is approximately 25 times the current cost of a single bus ticket. In other words, a passenger trying to “save” on a ticket may end up losing a significant amount of money as a lawbreaker.

Authorities emphasize the need to cultivate a culture of traveling only with a valid ticket in public transport. Each ticket is not only a matter of personal responsibility but also a financial pillar for the entire city transport system.

It was also announced that work is underway to further automate control in Tashkent’s public transport through the use of cameras and electronic monitoring systems. This will make it possible to timely detect any bypasses or "complex tricks."

Ultimately, fair and equal use of public transport begins with civic responsibility and respect for the law. By purchasing just one ticket, you support not only yourself but the entire system.
