In the 6th round of the English Premier League, Manchester City secured a resounding 5-1 victory over Burnley at home. After the match, the team's head coach, Josep Guardiola, shared his thoughts on the match in an interview with the press.
The Spanish specialist noted that his team played at a high level almost the entire match. Only for a short time - about 10-15 minutes - did he admit that the tempo had decreased. But in the rest of the time, he noted the high level of movement on the field, tactical approach, and team cohesion.
"We played a very strong game. We only lost the rhythm in certain moments. But for the rest of the time, everything went perfectly. Burnley didn't lose against other opponents by a large margin, and we found our way to their goal five times," Guardiola said.
According to the coach, the start of the second half was also a significant turning point for City. The team acted more confidently, and as a result, the advantage on the field was fully in their hands.
"This victory is of great importance to us. The Premier League is always difficult. After the game against United, our mood improved significantly. Even if we don't perform well at times, our ability to defend as a team and demonstrate high team spirit is the main source of strength for us," the Spanish coach noted.
Guardiola also commented on the performance of individual players. According to him, the opposing goalkeeper Walker played at a high level. At the same time, he emphasized that it is not easy to stop Jeremy Docu, who is in his best sporting form.
City's victory boosted the morale of the club's fans. Playing with such a strong spirit in the upcoming matches of the season remains one of the main tasks facing the team.
