Zelenskyy: If there is a threat to Kyiv, there will be a blackout in Moscow too

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a statement in response to Russia's possible actions aimed at destroying its energy system during the autumn-winter season. According to him, if Moscow tries to implement a complete power outage in the Ukrainian capital, Russia's own capital could face the same consequences.

"If, for example, Kyiv is threatened with a blackout, the Kremlin should be well aware that a blackout could also occur in Moscow," Zelenskyy said at a briefing with journalists.

According to the Ukrainian leader, there is no room for diplomatic politeness against the backdrop of threats from Russia. "If the Russians threaten, there's no need to be cautious with them in rhetoric. "Culturally treating the uncultured is, in my opinion, not the right path in rhetoric, not on the battlefield, not in serious steps towards Russia," Zelenskyy said.

The head of state also emphasized that Russia must understand - civilized countries will never be the first to launch aggression and will never be aggressors. However, this does not mean that they are weak or powerless.

As a reminder, in August, the Russian Armed Forces intensified attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy, as the heating season approaches, Russia is deliberately pursuing a policy of destroying energy facilities. In August alone, within 10 days, 20 strategic facilities - power substations, thermal power plants, and oil refineries - were hit.

At the same time, the Ukrainian military is striking Russian oil refineries with drones. As a result of these shocks, some enterprises partially or completely stopped, which led to fuel shortages and price increases.

Zelenskyy's firm position once again demonstrated Ukraine's readiness to take symmetrical measures against Russia's increasing pressure and attacks.
