Meta is introducing a paid subscription system for Facebook and Instagram users in the United Kingdom. From now on, users will be able to pay about 3 dollars per month to use social networks without ads.
The company stated that users can either consent to their data being used for advertising purposes or restrict it. This way, people will have more control over their personal data. At the same time, the option to use the service for free with ads will remain available.
In Europe, such a service has already been introduced and costs about 6 dollars per month. In the UK, the price is lower, with the mobile app set at 4 dollars.
Experts have welcomed this decision, noting that users will gain more control over the use of their personal data.
