Following the 1-0 victory over Navbahor and Qizilqum in the 22nd round of the Super League, Namangan's new coach, Sherzod Jo'rayev, shared his thoughts at a press conference.
According to the experienced coach, he has only been in charge of the team for two days, and during this short period, he has had conversations with the players, listened to their concerns, and studied their mood and inner state. "I knew what they were capable of, but I didn't know them well. Therefore, I spoke with them and provided emotional support. The guys gave their all on the field. That's why we won. I express my special gratitude to the fans," Jurayev said.
According to him, "Kyzylkum" is a team with strong and individually good players, and it was not easy to fight against them. "Football consists of two sections. In the first half, it was difficult for us, and in the second half, the chances began to increase. And luck always goes to the side of a strong team and smiles at them," the coach emphasized.
When asked why he didn't play the team with two strikers, he replied: "We don't have two strikers who play in the same style. If it were, I would try this tactic. This is my first experience in the Super League, and we will gradually unlock our full potential."
Sherzod Jo'rayev also commented on the absence of some players in the squad. "Zabihillo and Umid Ergashev received minor injuries. Caesar and Guedes were not included in the squad by my decision. Because we considered it expedient to give opportunities to young people. If they can prove themselves in training, of course, they will also be given an opportunity on the field," he said.
Commenting on Navbahor's U-21 team, Jurayev emphasized that talented youth always emerge in Namangan and that he intends to gradually attract them to the main squad.
"I am from Namangan, so I did not hesitate to accept the team even in a difficult situation. If I were afraid, I wouldn't be sitting here. I played for Navbahor, and it was clear that this day would come someday," the coach said.
Thus, Sherzod Jo'rayev quickly restored the team's morale, delighting the fans, and his debut began with a victory.
