On September 24-26, 2025, the Alisher Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan hosted a major event - the "Banking and Enlightenment" forum, aimed at improving financial literacy and developing a culture of reading among the population.
The forum was organized at the initiative of the Central Bank in cooperation with commercial banks, publishing houses, the Publishers Association, and a number of organizations. At the meeting, initiatives aimed at improving public knowledge at the intersection of finance and education were discussed.
Within the framework of the forum, 9 memorandums of cooperation were signed between banks and publishing houses. In particular, agreements were reached on launching joint projects with Halk Bank - Asaxiy Books, Mikrokreditbank - IjodNashr, Sanoatqurilishbank - "Mutolaa" project, Turonbank - Gutenberg, Aloqabank - Tingla AI and Cosmos Books, TBC Bank - Asian Book House, Milliy Bank - Akademnashr, InFinBank - "Yangi asr avlodi," Anorbank - Farengeit Press.
One of the most important areas of the event was the project of mahalla libraries. This initiative was inspired by the experience of the first mahalla library opened in Bukhara region by Shahnoza Navruzova, founder of the Telegram channel "Kutubxonachi qiz," and was supported by the Central Bank and commercial banks in 2024.
In May of last year, libraries were opened in 109 mahallas of the city of Tashkent, and today their number has reached 116 throughout the country. 17 commercial banks participated in the project. For example, the National Bank sponsored the creation of 16 mahalla libraries, the People's Bank - 12, Ipak Yuli Bank - 9, Turonbank - 7.
One thousand books were provided to each library, further expanding the population's opportunities for education and reading.
Through the "Banking and Enlightenment" forum, new steps were taken in society by combining financial literacy and spirituality. It was emphasized that combining financial potential with education will create a solid foundation for future generations.
