Al-Nasr – Al-Ittihad: dramatic defeat

Cristiano Ronaldo could not save his team Al-Nassr from defeat. In the 1/8 final of the Saudi Arabia King’s Cup, the team from Riyadh lost 1-2 to Al-Ittihad and exited the tournament.

Goals for the visitors were scored by Karim Benzema and Houssem Aouar. From the early minutes Al-Nassr played an attacking game.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané tried to break through the opponent’s defense, but the visitors were more effective on the counterattack. In the 15th minute, Karim Benzema converted a pass from Diaby into a goal, opening the scoring.

The hosts did not keep the response waiting. In the 30th minute, Gabriel Angelo played a one-two with Ronaldo and fired a powerful shot into the top corner, equalizing the score.

The first half ended in a draw, but both teams created several chances. In the second half Al-Ittihad was left with one player less.

Ahmed al-Julaidan received a straight red card for a gross foul. Al-Nassr increased the pressure, the head coach sent new players onto the field, but the visitors held firm defensively and waited for their chance on the counterattack.

In the 45th minute, Houssem Aouar started a quick attack from the center and fired a precise shot into the far corner, putting Al-Ittihad ahead. In the remaining time, the hosts tried to attack from the flanks, but goalkeeper Rajković saved his team several times.

Shots by Mané and Coman were inaccurate, and Ronaldo shot over from a free kick. Al-Ittihad achieved a hard-fought victory and advanced to the quarter-finals of the King’s Cup.
