A temporary ban on Chinese mandarins and ananas has been introduced in Uzbekistan

Due to the frequent occurrence of plant quarantine objects in the batches of mandarins and pineapples imported into Uzbekistan from China, a temporary restriction on the import of these fruits has been introduced. This was reported by the Plant Quarantine and Protection Agency.
According to the agency, samples of mandarin and pineapple cargo from China were taken in the prescribed manner and examined in the Central Phytosanitary Laboratory. As a result of the analysis, quarantined pests were identified in the samples.
In particular, the following harmful organisms have been recorded: "Citrus whitefly" (Dialeurodes citri Ashmead), "Eastern citrus shield" (Unaspis yanonensis Kuwana), "Anabasis flour worm" (Dysmicoccus brevipes Cockerell). It is reported that such pests were found in about 20 shipments.
Regarding the contaminated products, the National Plant Quarantine and Protection Organization of China has been officially notified, and relevant information and documents have been provided.
During the period of the ban, the issuance of quarantine permits for mandarins and pineapples, which are planned to be imported from China, was temporarily suspended.
It is noted that this measure is not permanent - it was introduced to prevent the entry and spread of potentially dangerous quarantine objects into the territory of Uzbekistan. Thus, experts are currently prioritizing the safety of fruits entering the market.
