
Kazakh chess player Bibisara Asaubaeva won the World Blitz Championship held in Doha. A total of 393 participants took part in the tournament, which ran from December 26 to 30. This was reported by Kursiv.uz.reports.
The women’s competition started with 15 rounds under the Swiss system. Based on the qualification results, Asaubaeva finished first and advanced to the playoff stage. The time control at the tournament was 3 minutes plus a 2-second increment per move.
In the semifinals, she faced China’s Zhu Jiner and secured a convincing 3–0 victory. In the decisive final, her opponent was Ukraine’s Anna Muzychuk: three games ended in draws, and in the last game Asaubaeva prevailed to clinch the title.
This became Asaubaeva’s third World Blitz Championship title: she had previously won the crown in 2021 and 2022. She also made history as the first chess player from Kazakhstan to win the World Blitz Championship three times. The total prize fund exceeded €1 million.
