Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher assessed Arsenal’s emphatic 4–1 victory over Aston Villa. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
The Villans had won 11 consecutive matches in all competitions and climbed to third place in the Premier League table. Ahead of the game at the Emirates, the Birmingham side were only three points behind the Gunners.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher called the result a hugely necessary win for Arsenal in several respects. He noted that for the first time this season the London side produced a truly convincing performance against a strong opponent, scored four goals and were able to see the game out calmly.
After 19 rounds, Arsenal top the table with 45 points. Manchester City, despite having a game in hand, trail the Londoners by five points.
