During a visit to review construction work in New Tashkent, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the project of a new bridge being built over the Chirchiq River, as well as a park-and-ride facility integrated with a metro station. These initiatives aim to strengthen transport links between Tashkent and New Tashkent, manage traffic flows efficiently, and create a convenient and safe environment for residents’ mobility. This was reported by podrobno.uz.reports.
The bridge under construction will connect the capital with the New Tashkent area. Its capacity is planned at 40–50 thousand vehicles per day. Work under the first phase of the project began at the end of this year.
Environmental aspects are being given special attention in the bridge construction: landscaping and greening of riverbank areas, installation of energy-efficient lighting systems, and development of pedestrian and bicycle lanes are предусмотрены. It is also planned to build a double-track tram line across the bridge.
The President was also presented with a project for a new 21-kilometre metro line linking New Tashkent with Tashkent. The route is expected to include 9 modern stations and serve up to 230,000 passengers per day. The line will be fully integrated into the existing metro network, forming a unified transport system.
The head of state also reviewed construction progress at one of the future stations. This station will be combined with a 20,000-square-metre parking facility. The project предусматривает clear separation of flows—cars, pedestrians and public transport—while prioritising safety and functionality.
Earthworks and concrete pouring are currently ongoing at the site. The entire complex is planned to be launched in 2027. The President highlighted the strategic importance of the projects for New Tashkent’s development and instructed to ensure high construction quality and strict adherence to deadlines.
As a reminder, on 30 December Shavkat Mirziyoyev also visited the construction sites of the “New Uzbekistan” University and the National Library buildings in New Tashkent.
