Former Fenerbahce player says Mourinho broke his promise

Former Fenerbahce player Lincoln harshly criticized Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho. The specialist managed the Istanbul club in 2024–2025. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .
According to Lincoln, Mourinho failed to keep a promise he had made to him, which caused the player great dissatisfaction. “He has won a lot of trophies, no one denies that. But he disrespected me. For me, character in life is more important than titles,” he said.
The player noted that before leaving on loan to Hull City, he spoke with Mourinho, who said he expected him at the summer camp in Portugal. After the season ended, he waited for a call-up to the camp and tried to contact Mourinho through an interpreter, but the coach refused to communicate and told him to speak to the sporting director instead.
Lincoln said that even though he was in Portugal while the team were holding their camp there, Mourinho still sent him to Istanbul and ordered him to train separately. “It was unfair and disrespectful treatment. In many matches I gave everything to help the club, even playing in a position that wasn’t comfortable for me. After a serious injury I expected support, but I didn’t get it,” he told Fanatik.
Jose Mourinho is currently in charge of Benfica.
