"Manchester United" signs 5-year deal with Mainoo

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba shared his thoughts on the future of club academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo. The 21-year-old is close to signing a new five-year contract with the club, with a weekly wage of £120,000-£150,000, after returning to the first team under Michael Carrick. This is reported by Goal.com reports

Mainoo's situation at the club changed drastically in 2026. Under former coach Ruben Amorim, he was left on the bench and even planned to leave on loan. However, Carrick's appointment changed the situation. The young midfielder impressed in the winning match against Chelsea (1-0) and earned the coach's high praise.

Pogba spoke about Mainoo's talent on Rio Ferdinand's podcast and advised him to stay at the club. According to him, if the coach trusts the player and he feels happy, it's better to stay at Old Trafford despite interest from other clubs. Pogba emphasized that Mainoo is greatly loved by Manchester United fans and has the opportunity to build a legendary career there.

The club management aims to finalize the agreement with Mainoo by the end of the current season. This step is considered an important part of the strategy to rebuild the team around its academy graduates. Pogba added that he enjoys the young star's game and wishes him the best, regardless of the decision he makes.
