The national payment system HUMO and the global payment platform Alipay+ (part of Ant International) have established a partnership to develop international QR-payments. Business Wire reported that this agreement was signed in Beijing.
In the initial stage, HUMO users will be able to make payments in foreign countries, specifically in China and more than 50 other countries, including Kazakhstan, Thailand, the UAE, and the US, in soums via their banking apps or wallets. Octobank’s Octomobile e-wallet will be the first to be integrated with the Alipay+ system.
By the end of the year, other HUMO participants are also planned to be connected to this system. The cooperation also enables Alipay+ users to make payments at retail points in Uzbekistan.
This creates new opportunities in tourism and retail sectors. According to Maksad Mukhitdinov, First Deputy Chairman of the HUMO Management Board, this agreement will provide convenience for Uzbek users to travel and make payments worldwide, and for businesses, it will provide opportunities to expand their audience.
Currently, the HUMO system unites 35 banks and 42 non-bank financial institutions in the country. Edward Yue, Alipay+ General Manager for Southeast Asia, Australia and South Asia, stated that the collaboration will expand Alipay+ activities in Central Asia and cover more than 45 million digital wallet users.
Alipay+ combines more than 40 e-wallets and banking apps, as well as 10 national QR-payment systems, connecting 1.8 billion consumer accounts and more than 100 million retail points. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
