Apple is close to reaching an agreement with Google. According to Bloomberg, under this deal, the Cupertino company will pay about 1 billion dollars a year to use Google’s artificial intelligence model.
Google's Gemini technology will serve as the basis for updating the Siri voice assistant. This technology provides key inference and planning capabilities necessary for understanding context and executing complex commands.
Apple plans to use this model as a temporary solution while it finishes developing its own cloud-based artificial intelligence system. The launch of this new system is planned for next year.
The cooperation with Google is of an internal nature and will not involve public branding. This agreement is different from the contract that sets Google as the default search engine in the Safari browser.
Apple intends to run Google’s Gemini technology on its own Private Cloud Compute servers, which will prevent user data from being transferred to third parties. According to Bloomberg, the parties are currently coordinating the technical and financial details of the agreement.
Apple sees this partnership as a temporary step to accelerate Siri’s development and to avoid falling behind competitors in the field of artificial intelligence.
