US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced his intention to organize official visits to five Central Asian countries - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan - during 2026. He announced this during a regional meeting in Washington, D.C., during a dialogue with the foreign ministers of these countries.
The information was published by Reuters. According to the source, Rubio's visit is being carried out within the framework of the US President Donald Trump administration's plan to take relations with Central Asia to a new level and, in particular, to deepen cooperation in the field of natural resources.
According to official data, the main purpose of the visit will be to discuss joint projects with the countries of the region, responsible development of raw materials and rare earth elements, expansion of cooperation, and ensuring economic stability.
According to Marco Rubio, the US views relations with Central Asia not only from a geopolitical point of view, but also as cooperation based on common interests. He emphasized the importance of "responsible development of resources and their use for the benefit of all parties."
- We want to strengthen the strategic dialogue with our partners in Central Asia. "This will not only create economic opportunities, but also serve to strengthen stability and security in the region," Rubio said at the meeting.
A high-level meeting with the participation of Donald Trump and the heads of state of Central Asia is also expected at the White House on November 6. During the negotiations, projects in the field of transport infrastructure, energy sources, technological cooperation, and education may also be discussed.
According to analysts, Rubio's visit could be part of a strategy to strengthen US positions in the region and create a balance against the influence of China and Russia.
Thus, Washington's dialogue with Central Asia is becoming more active - which increases the likelihood of creating a new economic and political page in the region in the future.
