
Russian forward and “Washington Capitals” player Alexander Ovechkin has become the first player in NHL history to score 900 goals. This was reported by Championat.
The 40-year-old athlete scored his 900th goal in a game against the “St. Louis Blues” in the 18th minute of the second period. Previously, Ovechkin had already broken Wayne Gretzky’s record (894 goals) for the most goals in NHL regular seasons.
The Russian star’s contract with his club is valid for one more season. Earlier, Ovechkin stated that he does not yet plan to sign a new contract.
