The 1100th anniversary of Imam Moturidi will be widely celebrated in Uzbekistan. A corresponding resolution of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was announced on this occasion.
The resolution was signed with the aim of encouraging a comprehensive and in-depth study of the exemplary life path and rich scientific and spiritual heritage of Imam Abu Mansur Moturidi, widely promoting the principles of tolerance and moderation inherent in the teachings of Moturidi among our people and the world community, and educating young people in the spirit of love for the Motherland and respect for national and universal values.
A program of measures is approved within two weeks to celebrate the 1155th anniversary of the birth of Imam Maturidi at a high level, worthy of the scholar's authority and prestige in the Islamic world, which includes the following:
(a) holding an international scientific and practical conference on the topic "Maturidiyil - the doctrine of tolerance, moderation and enlightenment" in the city of Samarkand in April 2025;
(b) holding a scientific competition among foreign researchers on the doctrine of Maturidiyil, organizing cultural and educational meetings and seminars-trainings in Uzbekistan with the participation of the winners;
(v) publishing scientific and explanatory academic translations of Imam Maturidi's works "Ta'wilot al-Qur'an" and "Kitab at-Tawhid" and sources related to the doctrine of Maturidiyil in Uzbek and foreign languages;
(g) To issue commemorative souvenirs dedicated to the 1155th anniversary of the birth of Imam Moturidi and to create a series of postage stamps, calendars, and other visual media highlighting the life and scientific heritage of the great thinker;
(d) To create an artistic and journalistic film that reveals the significance of Imam Moturidi's varied life path and scientific heritage today;
(e) To organize an exhibition of rare manuscripts and printed copies of works and books dedicated to the life, scientific and creative heritage of Imam Moturidi and scholars who worked in the direction of the Moturidi doctrine in the Samarkand region;
(j) To renovate and improve the Abu Mansur Moturidi complex in the city of Samarkand.
Together with the Committee on Religious Affairs, in May and October 2025, the Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov will hold a republican scientific and practical conference on the topic "The Doctrine of Maturidiyil and the Present Time" and a competition of scientific articles at the expense of the Fund for the Development of Higher Educational Institutions.
