A large pipeline exploded in Surkhandarya - flood threat averted
In Surkhandarya Region, a serious technogenic incident that attracted public attention occurred. In Jarkurgan District, at one of the pumping stations, a large water pipeline burst on June 30, 2025. This was reported by the regional administration’s press service.

According to specialists, a crack appeared in the main pipeline measuring up to 2 meters in diameter, which caused a powerful outflow of water under high pressure. This created a serious threat to the pumping station’s infrastructure.

A special commission was immediately formed, and specialists from “Surkhonvodqurilish” and “Uzteimyolyqurilish” arrived at the site. They immediately stopped the operation of three pumping units. This was a very correct decision that allowed more extensive consequences to be prevented.

Specialists promptly began emergency repair works, and by 21:20 the problem was completely resolved. The speed and efficiency of the work is noteworthy. As a result, no damage to residential buildings, the station, or city infrastructure was recorded due to the pipeline burst.

In an official statement from the regional administration, it is stated that the situation has been completely brought under control. No one was injured and there were no casualties. Measures are also being taken against the spread of unverified rumors and panic among residents.

Analysts say that at such high-risk facilities, regular preventive maintenance must be carried out. Because even a minor technical fault in high-pressure equipment can lead to serious consequences. Especially in regions rich in water resources, such as Surkhandarya, these systems are crucial for ensuring the population’s living standards.

To reassure citizens, authorities are addressing them through the media and recommend obtaining information only from official sources. They remind that actions aimed at “spreading panic” may complicate the situation.

Specialists emphasize that water supply has been restored in a balanced manner. All pumping units have been inspected and reactivated. Thanks to the effective actions of more than 20 specialists and machinery, the pipeline was put back into operation in a short time.

For the public and residents, this incident once again demonstrated the importance of being prepared for natural and technogenic emergencies and the coordinated work of emergency services. Based on this, it is recommended to strengthen technical order and discipline, as well as to conduct monthly inspections.

Surkhandarya regional administration and emergency service are currently summarizing inspection results. If a technical malfunction or maintenance error is identified, disciplinary measures may be taken against responsible persons. This will be a serious step towards preventing similar incidents in the future.

Thus, the major water pipe burst in Jarkurgan on June 30 was resolved promptly and professionally. Water supply to the population was not interrupted. Moreover, this incident may serve not only as a practical lesson but also as a signal for systemic reforms.
