Heatwave in Uzbekistan reaches 46 degrees Celsius: dangerous days ahead
Uzbek citizens were urgently warned about an incoming extreme heat wave.
According to data provided by meteorologists and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, extremely hot and dry air masses are expected to enter the territory of Uzbekistan from the south between July 2 and July 5, 2025.

Based on hydrometeorological observations, starting from July 2, air temperatures in the northern, southern, and desert regions of Uzbekistan may reach 40–43°C, and in some districts and cities, up to 44–46°C. These heat waves can negatively affect not only public health but also agriculture, transport, and the energy sector.

From July 3 to July 5, wind speeds are expected to increase to 13–18 m/s across the country, and up to 20–25 m/s in some districts, resulting in dusty and unfavorable meteorological conditions. This can be particularly dangerous for people with respiratory illnesses.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations issued several safety recommendations. Citizens are advised to avoid going outdoors during peak sunlight hours (between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM), to wear protective clothing to prevent skin burns, to drink more fluids, and to use sunblock. Drivers are also advised not to park vehicles under trees, power lines, or banners, as these may fall due to strong winds.

Excessive sun exposure is especially hazardous for children, the elderly, and people with chronic illnesses. Doctors recommend that such individuals stay indoors, remain in cool places, and pay attention to their diet during hot days.

According to environmental and meteorological experts, no rainfall is expected throughout July in Uzbekistan, meaning the weather will likely remain dry and very hot. This could lead to forest fires, water shortages, and problems in agriculture.

The public is urged to use electricity and water wisely. In July, the extensive use of air conditioners, refrigerators, fans, and other cooling devices will increase the load on the power grid. Energy saving is important not only for household economy but also for overall system stability.

Experts note that in recent years, climate patterns have changed dramatically, and signs of global warming are becoming more evident. This calls for every individual to act with environmental responsibility, protect nature, and take measures to reduce the harmful impact of extreme heat.
