Uzbekistan's WTO negotiations with Russia nearing conclusion

Uzbekistan's negotiations with Russia regarding its accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) are nearing completion. This was reported by Presidential Administration representative Azizbek Uronov.

Negotiations with Russia took place over the past week. "The talks are practically concluded: all major elements have been agreed upon, with only a few technical issues requiring final review and approval," Uronov wrote on the social media platform LinkedIn.

It is expected that the negotiations with Russia will conclude at the end of the year during a meeting of the Trade Alliance Council in Geneva, Switzerland. The special representative noted that Tashkent still needs to finalize discussions with Taiwan to complete its membership process.

Russia became an official WTO member in August 2012, following 18 years of negotiations to join the organization. Taiwan, on the other hand, joined the alliance in early 2002.
