Syrdarya to receive 1.5 trillion soums in 2026

1.5 trillion soums to be allocated to Sirdarya in 2026
In 2026, 1.5 trillion soums will be allocated to Sirdarya region for infrastructure development, and 10 trillion soums will be directed towards implementing entrepreneurship projects. This decision was adopted at an extraordinary session of the Council of People's Deputies, attended by Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Of the allocated funds, 753 billion soums will be directed for the first time to regional and district budgets to improve conditions in local communities. The head of state instructed the preparation of regional projects and their presentation to potential investors.

Additionally, a delegation from the region is set to visit China. Direct cooperation will be established with provinces and cities in China operating in sectors such as construction materials, chemicals, light industry, pharmaceuticals, and electrical engineering.

In Gulistan, a "Uzbekistan-SCO" trade and industrial zone will be created, providing a minimum of 5,000 jobs. Entrepreneurs will be offered ready-made production facilities through industrial mortgages or leasing programs.

Land plots in Sirdarya's free economic zone will be provided under simplified procedures for companies prepared to relocate their production from Tashkent. Concessional loans of up to 10 billion soums and reduced rail transport tariffs for raw materials will also be offered.

Special attention will be given to supporting human resources. Deputy governors of districts will undergo training at the International Center for Poverty Reduction in Beijing.

A group of 50 young citizens from the region will be sent to China to receive training in automotive technical services. At Gulistan University, a vocational training center will be opened under the "Lu Ban Workshop" program, and a joint Uzbek-Chinese higher education institution specializing in pharmaceutical technologies will be established on the basis of the medical college.

In agriculture, a key project will be the construction of the "Sultonhovuz" reservoir in Boyovut district, which will have a capacity of 100 million cubic meters. This will enable double-cropping on 110,000 hectares of land across five districts annually.

The modernization of the transport network is also planned: a 37-kilometer section of the A-373 highway will be expanded and converted into a six-lane road. Additionally, 67 kilometers of roads in 18 neighborhoods will be repaired with cement-concrete pavement.
