Lazio secures late victory over Milan

December 5, 2025, in the Round of 16 stage of the Italian Cup, Rome’s Lazio defeated AC Milan 1–0. The only goal of the match was scored in the 84th minute following a corner kick.

In the opening minutes of the game, both teams played cautiously. Lazio organized attacks through the left flank, while Milan attempted to gain control of the ball through the center.

The visitors’ defenders kept a tight grip on Isaksen and Castellanos. Towards the end of the first half, Lazio increased their pressure.

Bashich and Zaccagni attempted long-range shots, but Milan’s goalkeeper Maignan confidently saved them. Milan, on the other hand, tried to create dangerous opportunities through Estupiñán and Rabiot, but Loftus-Cheek and Leão failed to capitalize on their chances.

In the second half, the game continued with little change. Milan maintained ball possession but lacked efficiency in their attacks.

Meanwhile, Lazio gradually brought the game closer to the visitors’ penalty area. The substitutes introduced by Sarri increased the pressure from the flanks.

In the 84th minute, Lazio executed a corner kick. Tavares delivered the ball near the goal, and Zaccagni, having easily evaded the defenders, headed it into the bottom right corner.

Maignan was unable to save this shot. Milan launched counterattacks but failed to create any significant threats.

During additional time, Modrić and Pulisic attempted to strengthen the game through crosses from the flanks. However, Lazio’s defense remained well-organized and did not allow Milan to equalize the score.
