Summer in Uzbekistan may be extremely hot this year

According to Uzhydromet, the summer of 2026 in Uzbekistan will begin with unstable and moderately warm weather. Synoptics forecast short-term rain and thunderstorms in some regions during the first days of June.
From June 1–3, wind speeds across the republic are expected to increase to 15–20 meters per second. Air temperatures will be around 15–20 degrees at night and 30–35 degrees during the day.
In the following days, temperatures will gradually rise, reaching 18–23 degrees at night and 34–39 degrees during the day by the end of the month. In northern, southern, and desert regions, temperatures could reach 40–42 degrees on some days.
Will this summer be extremely hot?
Experts state that it is currently difficult to give a definitive answer. However, according to the latest data from the American Climate Prediction Center, initial signs of the El Niño phenomenon were observed in May 2026. This is linked to a sharp rise in Pacific Ocean water temperatures, which may affect global air temperatures.

The climate system is currently considered neutral, but the rapid rise in ocean water temperatures is strengthening forecasts that the summer of 2026 will be hot.
According to Uzhydromet's preliminary assessment, the average summer temperature this year may be slightly above normal. There is also a high probability of extreme heat days throughout the summer season.
Specifically, during the hottest days of summer, temperatures could rise to 42–44 degrees, and up to 45–47 degrees in northern, southern, and desert regions.
The absolute maximum temperature recorded in Tashkent in June was 43 degrees. The highest record for Uzbekistan was observed in Termez in June 1914, when the air temperature reached 49.6 degrees.
According to synoptics, over the last five years, June temperatures across the republic have been on average 1.3 to 2.5 degrees above normal.
