The European Union has declared Russia the main threat to security in the near future
The European Union has said it sees Russia as the most serious threat to European security in the near future. The White Paper on the operational readiness of European defense for the period up to 2030, published in Brussels, notes that Russia's aggressive nuclear policy and the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus are particularly dangerous.

The document accuses Moscow of creating a "network of systemic instability" and working closely with authoritarian states, constantly fomenting conflict and instability in the EU's neighboring regions - the Western Balkans, Georgia, Moldova and Armenia. In addition, Russia's influence on the African continent has also been described as a destabilizing factor.

Brussels has also paid special attention to the situation in Ukraine. The European Union believes that if Russia achieves its goals in Ukraine, its territorial ambitions will have an even wider scope.

Another important point is that by 2025, Russia's defense spending is expected to exceed the total defense spending of the European Union member states in purchasing power parity terms. This could lead to serious changes in European defense policy.

In this regard, the European Union has decided to pay serious attention to Russia in its defense strategy and further strengthen security measures.
