Drone coalition: Ukraine aid volumes and number of countries are growing
An important international event took place in Riga — at the “drone coalition” meeting, another two large countries, namely Belgium and Turkey, officially joined the initiative, reports mod.gov.lv. This project was initially led by Latvia and the United Kingdom, and now the number of coalition members has reached 20 states. This indicates that international cooperation is entering a new phase.

According to official information, following the new expansion, Latvia, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Australia, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, France, Estonia, Italy, New Zealand, Canada, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Turkey, Germany, and Sweden are participating in the “drone coalition.”

In 2025, the coalition members’ total financial commitments to support Ukraine amount to €2.75 billion. Of that, €180 million are allocated to a unified acquisition fund for drones under the management of the United Kingdom. These funds are intended for the centralized delivery of modern unmanned aerial vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The “drone coalition” was formed in 2024 within the “Ramstein” format with the purpose of strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Latvia is offering test ranges, trial grounds, and production facilities for new drone technologies as part of this initiative. This way, the country provides not only material but also technological support.

Another aspect attracting public attention — from the beginning of 2025, coalition countries will start delivering “tens of thousands” of UAVs to Ukraine. This was specifically pointed out by UK Deputy Defense Secretary Luke Pollard.

Experts consider these updates as a new phase of international support that bolsters Ukraine’s defensive capacity. The modern drones delivered centrally to the front will play a crucial role, and military-technical cooperation between nations will move to a new level.

It is evident that supporting Ukraine through international coalitions and supplying advanced technologies carries strategic importance in today’s geopolitical context. Every update in the drone coalition deserves attention not only on the front but on the global stage.
