Almaty resident wins in court with the help of ChatGPT

Almaty resident wins in court with the help of ChatGPT
Kenzhebek Ismailov, a resident of Almaty, Kazakhstan, won a court case using artificial intelligence. Instead of hiring a lawyer, he used the ChatGPT neural network to fight the fine and ultimately won the case.

The essence of the matter

The incident occurred in December 2023. Kenzhebek Ismailov was fined 5.8 thousand tenge (about 149 thousand soums) for violating traffic rules. He was fined for using a public transport lane to pass a truck parked in front of him at an intersection.

However, Ismailov considered the decision unfair and first appealed to the internal affairs department. After his appeal was rejected there, he decided to take the case to court.

Artificial intelligence - the new lawyer?

ChatGPT helped the citizen prepare the application necessary for filing a lawsuit. During the trial, a neural network helped him prepare answers to the judge's questions in real time.

The court issued a decision in 10 minutes, canceling the fine imposed on Ismailov. This may be one of the first cases won with the help of artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan.

"It was a civic duty"

Kenjebek Ismailov stressed that his goal in filing a complaint with the court was not money:

"It was a matter of principle for me. I would like the employees to take their work seriously next time. They behaved rudely and unprofessionally during the trial. That's why I brought this case to the end. It was my civic duty."

Now Ismailov plans to appeal to the police department and seek compensation for moral damage.

Lawyers and public opinion

The incident has sparked heated discussions among lawyers and Internet users. Some experts say that artificial intelligence could lead to major changes in the legal sphere in the future, while others say that such systems should not be relied upon too much.

However, this case shows that artificial intelligence is expanding its possibilities and that it can be an effective assistant even in legal proceedings.
