Tashkent City Police Department warned students

The Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs issued an important warning ahead of the new academic year. According to official information, in recent years students coming to the capital from different regions of the country to study, as well as their relatives, have increasingly faced various cases of fraud.

These fraudulent activities are most often observed in matters of renting housing. Fraudsters frequently post photos of houses on the internet that do not actually belong to them, and present them as rental apartments offered at low prices. Naturally, such “sweet” offers attract the attention of buyers, and the cheap price sparks their interest.

Under this pretext, the scammers demand advance payment of a certain amount of money allegedly to “hold” the house so that it will not be given to someone else. Once the requested money is transferred, it becomes impossible to contact them: they close all pages and block the victim. As a result, the deceived students and their relatives are left without a house and without the promised accommodation.

In this regard, the official statement of the Police Department strongly advised: never pay money in advance without seeing the house yourself. Do not forget to conclude a rental contract, and do so only after speaking directly with the owner of the house. Until you are fully convinced, never provide your personal information to strangers.

As law enforcement agencies emphasized, every student’s parents and relatives must also be thoroughly informed about these dangerous situations. Because only by acting through legal means can fraudsters be deprived of opportunities to cheat.

Thus, students and their families are urged to be cautious, alert, and increase their vigilance. If each of us stays watchful, fighting fraud together will become much easier.
