Oxism Epidemic Spreads Among Animals in Turkey
An epidemic of severe oxism disease among animals has been recorded in Turkey. This was reported by the Ihlas Haber agency.

It is reported that after the Eid al-Adha celebrations, the number of symptoms and disease cases among animals sharply increased. The Ministry of Agriculture issued an emergency bulletin to local government bodies, and epidemiological surveillance was implemented in all 81 provinces at a state level. Currently, all livestock markets have been temporarily closed, and quarantine measures have been imposed in epidemiologically dangerous areas.

The oxism epidemic has also triggered new warnings for tourists. However, experts emphasize that the virus does not spread from human to human. The main risk is contact with an infected animal or consuming raw milk and unprocessed meat.

Oxism is an acute and highly contagious viral disease of cloven-hoofed animals (cattle, sheep, goats, pigs), caused by a picornavirus. The virus is rapidly destroyed by high temperatures and ultraviolet light.

Experts recommend the following to prevent infection:

- Regular vaccination of animals;
- Implementation of enhanced quarantine measures;
- Thorough disinfection in affected areas.

These measures reduce the risk in livestock farming. It should not be forgotten: protection from the disease is a matter of state and public importance, and effectiveness is achieved not only through personal precautions but also through comprehensive oversight.
