An unexpected incident occurred at one of Russia’s major transport hubs — Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg. According to reports, as a result of drone attacks, the airport’s operations were completely paralyzed, with both arrivals and departures suspended for several hours.
Reports indicate that in total, around 100 flights faced various disruptions. Some of them were significantly delayed, while other international flights were completely canceled. This situation created serious problems not only for passengers but also for the entire aviation system.
The governor of Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko, made an official statement confirming the drone attack. According to him, several drones were shot down by air defense systems. At the same time, the consequences of the incident were not limited to airport operations.
The publication “Strana” writes that residents of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region also complained about disruptions in internet and mobile communications. This indicates that the attack also affected infrastructure.
