The military balance in the Middle East is once again changing, reported middleeasteye.net. After 12 days of bloody confrontation and heavy losses from Israeli air strikes, Iran purchased modern anti-aircraft missile systems from China to restore its air defense systems. According to sources, the weapons were delivered to Iran on June 24, after the signing of the ceasefire agreement.
The type and quantity of weapons have not been specifically disclosed, but it is reported that the deal was carried out through oil. This trade between China and Iran has also affected the geopolitical situation in the region. The US's Arab allies were aware of this deal and informed Washington.
According to information, Iran has so far been defending its airspace with “Favorit” S-300 complexes purchased from Russia. However, during the clash with Israel, these systems did not produce the expected result. US-supplied F-35, F-16, and F-15 fighter jets to Israel were able to approach Iran’s strategic facilities and drop guided aerial bombs. As a result, only one military base used anti-aircraft missiles, while the others were unaware of the attack.
Experts emphasize that Iran's acquisition of new defense systems from China may mark a new stage in the country's security strategy. This will have a significant impact on the defense balance not only of Iran but of the entire region.
