Another serious incident was recorded on the border between North and South Korea. Yonhap News Agency, citing UN Command data, reported that on August 19, about 30 North Korean servicemen crossed the demarcation line.
A day earlier, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that border troops had fired warning shots in response to such a situation.
The General Staff of the DPRK, in turn, stated that construction work was being carried out near the border. Pyongyang linked the incident to joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States, accusing Seoul of disrupting the balance of power in the region.
In recent months, relations between the two states have remained tense. South Korea recently announced the removal of loudspeakers used for propaganda against the North. However, this step did not bring the expected warming, and tensions in bilateral relations persisted.
Experts emphasize that such incidents at the border indicate a possible further complication of security and stability issues in the region. Fans and the international community are eagerly awaiting what the next move will be.
