Security issues in Europe are once again back on the agenda: the latest statements by British Defense Minister John Healey may launch a new stage in international military support for Ukraine, reports thetelegraph.co.uk.
At the upcoming meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the “Ramstein” format, chaired by John Healey and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius, participating countries are being asked to carry out a “50-day campaign.” The main goal of this initiative is to further accelerate military aid to Kyiv and expand opportunities at the front.
According to Healey, it is precisely during this short period that supplying the Ukrainian army with modern weapons, missiles, and air defense systems will become a top priority. According to the Ministry of Defense, the British side has committed to delivering rockets, artillery shells, and drones to Ukraine in 2025 for 700 million pounds sterling (800 million euros). London and Berlin are expected to approve major military purchases for Ukraine at the new meeting.
Meanwhile, in the US, recent statements by Donald Trump have become the focus of international attention. Trump declared that if no peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia is reached within 50 days, he will impose 100 percent tariffs on all of Russia’s trade partners. In addition, the US is promising to supply Ukraine with modern Patriot systems and a large amount of military assistance.
Analysts believe that such tough statements and new military campaigns are seen as serious pressure on Russia to bring it to the negotiating table. John Healey’s words, that “Ukraine must be armed, Putin must be forced to negotiate,” also reflect this strategy.
At the same time, direct contacts between Washington and Moscow continue. Donald Trump continues to state that he is searching for peace opportunities, but the situation on the front remains tense: rockets are flying to Kyiv, and civilians and military personnel are suffering.
Thus, the fate of the war in Ukraine is increasingly dependent on the upcoming 50-day military aid campaign and international political pressure. The joint strategy of Europe and the United States may change the situation at the front and force Russia to negotiate. In this process, Kyiv expects not only modern weapons but also clear and long-term political support from international partners. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
