A new history is being written in Karabakh: Uzbekistan’s stage and Aliyev’s gratitude
The large media forum held in the Azerbaijani city of Khankendi not only gave new color to recent regional events but also brought a new dimension to Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan relations, reported report.az. During the forum, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev repeatedly expressed his gratitude to the Uzbek people and leadership.
According to President Aliyev, one of the first and most important steps in the restoration of Karabakh is directly related to Uzbekistan. In particular, he specially noted the construction in Fuzuli city of the Mirzo Ulugbek school for 960 students, at the initiative of our head of state Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Aliyev stated, “The support of our Uzbek brothers is very important to us. The first gift on the path to restoring Karabakh was given by Uzbekistan. On the initiative of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a school named after Mirzo Ulugbek for 960 students was opened in Fuzuli,” and he emphasized that this help is not only material, but also spiritual support for Karabakh.
Sherzodkhon Kudratkhoja, an Uzbek journalist, addressed the president with several topical questions during the forum. Among them was a question about the strategically significant Zangezur corridor. According to Aliyev, this corridor may become an important economic and political artery connecting not only the two countries, but the entire region and even Eurasia. He specifically stressed that in the coming years, this project can fundamentally change the development and cooperation of the region.
Another emotional moment of the forum was a question to Ilham Aliyev about his father, former president of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev. In his response, President Aliyev did not hide his feelings: “In the most difficult times for our homeland, luckily for our people, there was such a person as Heydar Aliyev. At that time my father was already over 70, he had serious health problems. Nevertheless, he was able to make the most difficult decisions for the nation and put our country on the right track. The liberation of Karabakh was his greatest dream, but unfortunately, he could not see this day,” said Ilham Aliyev.
The restoration in Karabakh, new schools, and international projects further highlight Uzbekistan’s contribution. The public and experts consider this a strong foundation for the strategic partnership and future joint projects of the two countries. Today, the restoration of Karabakh is bringing a new breath not only to one region, but to the entire Turkic world and Eurasian community.
In conclusion, it can be said: Uzbekistan’s role in the restoration of Karabakh and the personal fate of the Aliyev family have historical significance in this region. New schools, strategic projects, and the spirit of brotherhood are becoming one of the main foundations of future development. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
