In Tanzania, doctors encountered an unusual case: they removed a knife from the chest of a 44-year-old patient, which had remained inside his body for eight years.
According to Pravilamag, the man went to the hospital because of pus discharge from the right side of his chest. Since he had no other serious complaints, doctors initially struggled to make an accurate diagnosis. However, after he told them about a knife injury he had received several years earlier, the cause became clear.
An X-ray examination revealed that a large knife blade was lodged in his chest. Interestingly, the blade was positioned near the right shoulder blade and did not damage any other vital organs.
The patient was immediately sent for surgery. During the operation, doctors carefully removed the knife along with the necrotic tissues caused by the infection. He spent one day in intensive care before being transferred to the general ward, where he was treated for 10 days.
Doctors emphasized that such cases are extremely rare in medical practice.
