Singer who sang Yulduz Usmanova's song fined

The laureate of the Nihol award, young and talented singer Guljakhon Kholkhuzhayeva, has been subjected to administrative liability for violating copyright. This was officially reported by the Ministry of Justice.

The Ministry received an appeal from the Public Association for the Protection of Copyright and Related Rights. The appeal stated that the poem “Senmiding,” belonging to the poet Abdusaid Abdusalomov, known under the pseudonym “Salomiy,” was performed without the author’s permission.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the poetic text of the song “Senmiding,” popularized in the performance of the People’s Artist of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan Yulduz Usmonova, was performed by Guljakhon Kholkhuzhayeva without the author’s consent. In this regard, a protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against the singer and sent to court.

According to the decision of the Mirzo Ulugbek District Criminal Court, the singer was fined under Part 1 of Article 177^1 of the Code of Administrative Liability (violation of copyright and related rights).

For reference: according to current legislation, the author has the right to demand from the offender not only compensation for damages but also payment of compensation in the amount of 20 to 1000 basic calculation units.

Experts emphasize that respecting copyright and fair treatment of creative work is extremely important for the stable and healthy development of the art world.
