Kosovo and Switzerland End in a Draw

The national teams of Kosovo and Switzerland played to a 1-1 draw in a match held in Pristina. With this result, Switzerland retained the top spot in the group and secured a direct berth to the World Cup, while Kosovo finished second and earned the right to participate in the playoff stage.

Both teams started the game cautiously. While Switzerland dominated ball possession, they were in no rush to accelerate their attacks.

The visitors primarily distributed the ball through Xhaka and the defenders, avoiding excessive risks in the attacking line. Kosovo, on the other hand, operated through the wings, with Muslija and Vojvoda leading the charge, but they failed to create significant tension inside the penalty area.

The first dangerous opportunity came from Switzerland's Aebischer, but his close-range shot was successfully saved by goalkeeper Muric. Kosovo attempted their first accurate shot near the end of the first half, but Hoxha’s strike was easily held by goalkeeper Kobel.

The game gained momentum at the start of the second half. In the 47th minute, Switzerland capitalized on a defensive mistake on the wing.

Sow received the ball in the center and delivered a pass to Vargas from the left wing into the penalty area. Vargas deceived goalkeeper Muric and sent a precise shot into the near corner to open the scoring.

After conceding the goal, Kosovo increased their activity and shifted the game closer to the opponent's penalty area. Muslija and Galap provided several passes from the left wing into the penalty box, trying to supply Muriqi with opportunities.

Finally, in the 74th minute, Muslija received the ball near the edge of the penalty area and delivered a precise shot into the right corner, equalizing the score. In the remaining minutes, Kosovo pushed for victory, but Switzerland’s defense preserved the draw.

This result satisfied both teams. Switzerland secured first place in the group and qualified for the World Cup.
