Alcohol detected in newborn baby's blood in Poland

In Poland, a newborn baby was found to have 1.62 promille of alcohol in its blood. Its mother was brought in for a cesarean section in a state of heavy alcohol intoxication.

On January 8, a serious incident occurred in the Tomaszów Lubelski hospital in Poland. A 38-year-old woman was brought to the maternity ward in a state of severe alcohol intoxication, and a decision was made to perform a cesarean section. The woman's blood alcohol content was nearly 3 promille, which prompted doctors to urgently perform the surgery.

Following this, alcohol was detected in the newborn's blood, and its level was 1.62 promille. This posed a significant risk to the newborn's life, and doctors took all necessary actions to ensure its survival.

The police and the prosecutor's office are currently investigating the case. Due to the direct threat to the newborn's life, the responsible parties could face up to 5 years in prison.
