White House Opposes Restrictions on Nvidia Chip Exports

White House opposes export restrictions on Nvidia chips
The White House has requested Congress to reject a legislative proposal aimed at restricting the sale of Nvidia and AMD chips to China and other countries, Bloomberg reported. The document, known as the "GAIN AI Act," demands priority access for U.S. customers to exported chips.

According to the publication, this stance by the administration could be seen as a victory for Nvidia, as the company has been actively lobbying against the proposed legislation. Nvidia emphasizes that U.S. consumers are not facing shortages of its products.

Meanwhile, Congress supports limiting Beijing's ambitions in the field of artificial intelligence. If the initial draft of the legislation is not approved, alternative proposals are planned to be introduced for discussion.

Under the proposal, the U.S. Department of Commerce would have the right to deny applications for selling chips more powerful than the H20 model to China. As of now, no decision has been made regarding these two legislative initiatives.
