
At least 442 people have died as a result of heavy rains and flash floods in Indonesia. This was stated in an official announcement by the country's disaster management agency. The events primarily affected areas in Eastern Indonesia, including the islands of Java and Sulawesi.
The floods have destroyed hundreds of homes, caused bridges to collapse, and submerged residential areas. Numerous roads have been closed, and transportation has been disrupted. Dozens of people are still reported missing.
Currently, thousands of rescuers and military personnel are conducting rescue operations in the disaster-affected areas. The government has prepared temporary shelters for those impacted. The Indonesian government has also reached out to the international community for aid.
