Sergey Mironov, the head of the influential Russian party "A Just Russia – For Truth," stated that the migration situation in the country requires drastic and decisive measures. The politician, speaking on the "Russia 24" TV channel, put forward three fundamental anti-migrant proposals by the party, including the introduction of a visa regime with Central Asian countries.
The Politician's Harsh Justifications
According to Mironov, Russian citizens in some places are being forced to leave their homes because these territories are "occupied by newcomers and they live according to their own customs." He openly stated that "they absolutely spit on the laws of Russia," thereby escalating the situation. He emphasized that the situation demands the adoption of several strict measures.
The Proposal for Collective Punishment of Relatives
The first proposal is to abolish the patent system in favor of the rotation (shift) method. Workers should be provided with housing not in settlements, but directly at the site where the object is being built. The principle: "Came – worked - earned – left."
The second proposal is that if a migrant commits a crime, they should be punished according to the law, but their entire family members and relatives should be immediately deported from Russia. This essentially means the introduction of a collective punishment mechanism.
Thirdly, to establish a visa regime with Central Asian countries. The politician expressed confidence that this will be achieved sooner or later.
Mironov has spoken about such drastic measures before. He emphasized that only a small portion of the current scale of the migrant flow are workers, while the rest come for "personal, family reasons," which creates an excessive burden on the social sector.
