Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz may return in the new 'The Mummy'


Universal Pictures is reportedly discussing the possibility of bringing back Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz for a new 'Mummy' film, according to Deadline. No information has yet been revealed about the plot of the film.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have been chosen as directors, while David Coggeshall is the screenwriter. Fraser and Weisz previously starred together in two films of the franchise: 'The Mummy' (1999) and 'The Mummy Returns' (2001).

In these films, Fraser played Rick O’Connell – an adventurer and former soldier, while Weisz played Evelyn Carnahan – an English Egyptologist. Over the course of the franchise, several spin-off films were created, including 'The Scorpion King' and 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor', as well as themed attractions by Universal.
