The government of Saudi Arabia has expelled 24 thousand Pakistani citizens who were engaged in illegal begging in the country. According to officials, these individuals entered Saudi Arabia through Umrah and other types of visas and subsequently joined organized begging networks.
Similar cases have been recorded in other countries. In particular, the UAE returned 6,000 Pakistanis, and Azerbaijan returned approximately 2,500 Pakistanis for the same reason. It is noted that this situation is becoming a serious problem at the international level.
According to Pakistani officials, begging has become a systematic activity controlled by criminal groups rather than a personal problem for certain individuals. Through such networks, people are sent abroad and used as a source of illegal income.
The Pakistani government acknowledged that this situation seriously damages the country's international reputation and emphasized the need to take decisive measures to eliminate such situations.
