According to Guardiola, players may enjoy the festive table, but this freedom is not unlimited. He plans to closely observe the level of commitment each player maintains to their form.
“They can eat, but I want to control it. On December 27, I have to select the squad for the game against Nottingham Forest. If someone is in good form now and comes back three kilograms overweight — they will stay in Manchester. They won’t travel to Nottingham. That’s clear,” Guardiola’s comments were reported by the Daily Mail.
This strict approach is connected to the ambitious goals of the “Citizens” in the current season. At present, Manchester City occupies second place in the English Premier League standings, having accumulated 37 points from 17 matches. The leader is London’s Arsenal with 39 points.
