Pezeshkian emphasizes that negotiations do not mean surrender

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed a firm stance on the country's foreign policy and potential negotiations. He emphasized that Tehran has no intention of "bowing to the enemy" under any circumstances. At the same time, it was noted that engaging in dialogue or negotiations does not mean Iran is surrendering or abandoning its national interests.
In a statement on his X social media page, Pezeshkian stressed that the rights of the Iranian people and the country's interests remain at the forefront of any diplomatic process. According to him, negotiation is not a sign of weakness, but a tool to defend one's position with determination.
"We will never bow to the enemy; if it comes to dialogue or negotiations, it does not mean surrender or retreat. On the contrary, the goal is to protect the rights of the Iranian people and firmly defend national interests," Pezeshkian wrote.
This statement comes against the backdrop of political tensions in the region and diplomatic processes surrounding Iran. Recently, Tehran's position in international relations, especially the issue of potential negotiations with the US and Western countries, has been widely discussed.
Pezeshkian stated that Iran does not avoid dialogue, but this dialogue must not contradict the country's dignity, independence, and national interests. In other words, for Tehran, negotiations are seen not as merely sitting at a table, but as a platform to openly defend its demands and rights.
These remarks show that the Iranian leadership is striving to maintain its position in the face of external pressure. The President's statement can be interpreted as a signal directed at both the domestic audience and the international community.
In short, Pezeshkian indicates that the door to diplomacy is not closed, but that this door should be entered with the goal of protecting national interests, not with a "surrender" slogan. In political terms, there is dialogue, but there are also conditions.
