In the US, a woman who went missing after taking her children to school has been found alive 11 years later. This was reported by the Mirror.
It is reported that in February 2002, Brenda Heist, a resident of Pennsylvania, disappeared without a trace after taking her children to school.
It was determined that at the time, the 42-year-old woman was going through a difficult divorce and could not cope with financial hardships.
Brenda's husband was suspected of murdering his wife, but the investigation was closed due to a lack of evidence and his successful passing of a polygraph test. It was later revealed that on the day she disappeared, Brenda met strangers in a park who offered to take her to Florida. Heist agreed to the offer and began living under a different name. Over the following years, she led a secretive lifestyle, worked for cash, and tried to leave no trace behind.
The woman introduced herself as a widow and claimed she never had children. In 2013, she was arrested for several crimes, including identity theft. During the identification process, it was discovered that she was Brenda Heist, who had been missing for many years.
At the time, Brenda expressed shame for abandoning her family but emphasized that she felt it was the only right decision at the time. After her release, she moved to Texas to live with her mother, but was unable to restore her relationship with her children.
