
In September 2025, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan became the only central bank in the world to sell gold. According to the World Gold Council, the Central Bank sold four tons of gold.
On the other hand, many central banks continued to increase their gold reserves. For example, Brazil bought 15 tons, Kazakhstan eight tons, and Guatemala six tons of gold.
Overall, in September, total gold purchases by central banks worldwide reached 39 tons. This is the highest figure observed since the beginning of the year.
Since the beginning of 2025, the net global gold purchases have reached 200 tons. This is slightly less than the figure for the same period in 2024 (215 tons).
